[Hiring] Communications Manager @Vail Resorts

Role Description

The Communications Manager for the Mid-Atlantic is responsible for promoting and protecting the reputation of Jack Frost, Big Boulder, Roundtop, Liberty, Whitetail, Seven Springs, Hidden Valley, and Laurel Mountain through:

• Proactive media relations
• Effective storytelling
• Social media management
• Strategic communications

This role will act as a spokesperson for the resorts and will be responsible for:

• Issue management
• Crisis communications
• Supporting resort leadership with communications initiatives (internally and externally)
• Working closely with the Community Relations team
• Promoting visitation with the marketing team
• Managing the resorts’ social media accounts for consistent storytelling

This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Communications for the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest Regions and is part of the broader East Region Communications team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Journalism, Communications, or Marketing
• 5+ years of experience in an external communications or PR role
• Proven experience working with journalists
• Excellent writing skills
• Experience with all forms of external communications channels
• Experience with crisis communications and issues management
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
• Ability and willingness to travel to various Mid-Atlantic resorts
• Must reside in Pennsylvania and be familiar with the Mid-Atlantic resorts and regional ski culture
