Role Description

The Vice President, Business of Development leads the development and execution of business plans and commercial strategies for a set number of Key and Strategic customers and or geographic territories. Key responsibilities include:

• Driving business development initiatives
• Fostering strategic partnerships
• Cultivating relationships with sponsors and key stakeholders within CRO, pharmaceutical, and healthcare organizations
• Securing new business opportunities
• Ensuring the overall growth of new businesses in line with target expectations

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, CROs, and other stakeholders
• Lead business development efforts by developing a strategic plan to manage and grow a database of prospects and activities
• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify potential risks and opportunities
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the clinical research sector
• Collaborate with department leaders to review/determine study selection and meet goals
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless coordination and execution of business development strategies
• Prepare and present proposals tailored to the specific needs of potential clients
• Track and report on business development activities and performance metrics
• Represent the organization at industry conferences and other relevant events
• Employ strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to propose and implement risk mitigations
• Perform all other duties that may be requested or assigned

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and internet
• Well-developed written and verbal communication and presentation skills
• Well-developed interpersonal and listening skills
• Exceptional networking and relationship-building capabilities
• Proactive and self-motivated with a results-oriented mindset

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, or related field
• Minimum of ten (10) years related experience in business development or sales within the clinical research industry
• Advanced degree (MBA, PhD, MD) is a plus
• Strong knowledge of clinical research processes and industry trends

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Set up and take down conference tables/exhibits
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
• Typing and working primarily with fingers
• Expressing or exchanging ideas through spoken word
• Perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels
• Close visual acuity for preparing and analyzing data
