Role Description

Are you ready to build corporate and foundation partnerships that expand opportunities for young people nationwide? Do you have experience securing multi-million-dollar, multi-year commitments and engaging executive decision-makers? National 4-H Council is seeking a Development Director to lead new business development and advance partnerships that support our mission and Beyond Ready initiative.

As the Development Director, you will report to the Senior Development Director and contribute to a team fundraising goal of over $50 million, with an individual goal of $5 million annually. You will build and advance a portfolio of 90–100 national prospects; engage C-suite executives, senior corporate leaders, and foundation decision-makers; and lead opportunities from initial outreach through proposal development, negotiation, and close.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, business administration, sales management, or related discipline, or equivalent in work experience.
• 10+ years of experience or other relevant experience in successfully securing multi-million-dollar, multi-year corporate or foundation partnerships.
• 8+ years of progressively responsible work experience in planning, managing, and initiating relationships between private and/or nonprofit sectors.

Requirements

• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Proficiency in Raisers Edge NXT or equivalent fundraising/CRM software.
• Ability to perform in a team-oriented environment and to successfully navigate a highly complex organization.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple project deadlines and deliverables.

Benefits

• Travel may be necessary, up to 50% of the time (local, regional & national). This role would require travel by air, car, rail.
• Mostly a sedentary role; however, some movement is required.
• Routinely uses standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
• Requires the ability to handle routine work materials and bend or stand as necessary.
• Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
