Role Description

Join Nortal for your next big adventure. We are seeking a Senior AI Agentic Engineer to join our team, grow with us, and teach us a few things along the way.

About the project:

• Help a US client build secure enterprise applications and AI agents that do real work.
• Design agentic workflows that connect AI to the client's data and tools through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
• Ensure applications are secure, tested, monitored, and easy for other teams to reuse.
• This is a self-directed role involving close collaboration with domain experts and product managers.
• Mentor other engineers and help shape technical direction across teams.

What you’ll do:

• Design and build secure enterprise applications with React, TypeScript, Python, and API services.
• Build agentic workflows and MCP integrations that connect AI applications to enterprise data and tools.
• Implement structured outputs, workflow state management, human approval steps, and error recovery.
• Build authentication, authorization, role-based access control (RBAC), and audit logging.
• Set up AI evaluation, guardrails, tracing, and monitoring to track quality, safety, performance, and cost.
• Work with domain experts and product managers to turn requirements into scalable solutions.
• Design reusable, configuration-driven components for other teams.
• Own your code in production, including tests and documentation.
• Participate in Nortal's Technical Interviewer Program, conducting technical interviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related STEM field.
• Five or more years of software development experience, including five or more years with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages.
• Strong skills in React, API development, application architecture, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Hands-on experience building AI-assisted applications, agentic workflows, or tool-calling solutions.
• Experience with MCP, structured outputs, context management, or comparable frameworks.
• Experience with authentication, authorization, RBAC, and secure coding practices.
• Full lifecycle experience, from requirements and architecture to deployment and production support.
• Bonus if you've worked with Databricks, Unity Catalog, or data lakes; GitLab CI/CD; policy-as-code or infrastructure-as-code; data marketplaces, governance platforms, or internal developer platforms; or privacy, security, and AI governance controls in regulated environments.
• Advanced English Level is required for this role as you will work with US clients.
