Role Description

As a Robot Application Algorithm Engineer, you will work with industrial robotic manipulation scenarios such as grasping, assembly, and precision insertion, responsible for:

• Robot visual perception
• Grasp and manipulation planning
• Closed-loop vision/force-feedback control
• System deployment

Location: Reno, NV preferred; open to candidates located anywhere in the U.S.

Responsibilities Also Include:

• Develop robot visual perception systems, including:
  • Object detection
  • Instance segmentation
  • Object localization
  • 6D pose estimation
  • Point cloud processing/registration
  • Grasp pose computation
• Using robot motion planning frameworks such as MoveIt/MoveIt2, deliver a complete closed-loop workflow from visual localization to robot execution, including:
  • Kinematics solving
  • Grasp pose planning
  • Collision detection
  • Motion planning
• Combine vision, depth information, and force/torque feedback to perform online correction of end-effector poses, improving task success rates under target position errors, assembly tolerances, and environmental variations.
• Integrate the robot software architecture and vision, planning, and control modules based on ROS/ROS2.
• Responsible for robot on-site deployment, production-line adaptation, integration and commissioning with upstream and downstream equipment, and issue troubleshooting; continuously optimize cycle time, success rate, and stability; prepare technical documentation and train on-site personnel.
• Participate in validation of robot manipulation algorithms based on VLA, imitation learning, reinforcement learning, etc., including:
  • End-to-end policies from visual input to robot action output
  • Precision manipulation strategies that fuse vision and force feedback

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Robotics, Automation, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in robot vision-guided grasping algorithms or robot application development.
• Familiar with forward/inverse kinematics, coordinate transformations, trajectory planning, and the basic principles of robot arm control.
• Familiar with OpenCV, PCL, RGB-D cameras, etc., with hands-on experience in:
  • Object detection/segmentation
  • Point cloud processing
  • Object pose estimation
  • Grasp pose computation
• Familiar with camera calibration, hand-eye calibration, and transformations from vision coordinates to robot coordinates; understand the principles of robot force control and compliant control.
• Hands-on experience with real-robot commissioning/debugging and industrial project deployment.

Requirements

• Familiarity with VLA + RL / learning-based manipulation methods such as RECAP and RLT is preferred.
• Practical experience with impedance control, admittance control, or hybrid force/position control.
