Reporting to the CTO, AI & Software, the AI Software Engineering Lead will be the first hire dedicated to accelerating how Veralto Water Quality software and firmware teams use AI to build better, faster, and smarter.

• This is not a narrow coding role or a slide-deck strategy role — it is a hands-on, high-influence opportunity to embed with engineering teams, understand real code bases, coach developers, prove what is possible, and help scale AI-enabled development practices across multiple operating companies.
• You will operate like a technical SWAT-team leader: jumping into the highest-value opportunities, learning the development environment quickly, helping teams apply AI-assisted engineering in practical ways, measuring the impact, and then carrying those lessons to the next challenge.
• Along the way, you will help modernize legacy environments, support AI-focused Kaizens, build tangible proofs of concept, and influence experienced developers through credibility, curiosity, and hands-on technical depth.

This position is remote-friendly, with preferred locations in Vancouver, B.C. or Loveland, CO. Travel is expected to collaborate with Water Quality teams across North America, with potential international collaboration as needed.

Qualifications

• Principal-level depth in software engineering, firmware engineering, AI engineering, architecture, developer productivity, or a related technical leadership path.
• Hands-on experience applying AI development tools, large language models, RAG approaches, MCP concepts, agentic workflows, coding agents, or AI-powered engineering platforms in real software environments.
• Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar code bases, development environments, and technical constraints, then identify where AI can create practical value.
• Credibility with developers and the technical fluency to coach, prototype, troubleshoot, and lead by example rather than relying only on strategy or presentations.
• Strong communication and change leadership skills, with the ability to influence teams without direct authority and help them adopt new ways of working.

Requirements

• Experience across both software and embedded/firmware development environments.
• Experience with IoT solutions, industrial automation, instrumentation, or connected products.
• Experience leading DevOps, platform engineering, architecture, or developer productivity initiatives.
• Experience implementing organizational change management programs within technology teams.
• Familiarity with water quality, environmental monitoring, laboratory, utility, compliance, or industrial technology markets.
• Understanding of AI governance, security, privacy, and compliant AI development practices.
