Role Description

As an AI Engineer, you’ll work hands-on with modern AI technologies, developing and maintaining Python web applications in a cloud-native environment. Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance AI-powered web applications using Python and frameworks like FastAPI
• Deploy, monitor, and support applications and services on Microsoft Azure, utilizing App Service, Storage, Key Vault, and similar resources
• Leverage coding assistants and AI tools to write, review, and debug high-quality production code
• Analyze project requirements, participate in planning sessions, and deliver technical recommendations
• Prepare, test, and document source code; ensure software integrity and adherence to security standards
• Collaborate with the Connecticut AI Lab for architectural guidance, code reviews, and best practices
• Evaluate, compare, and select AI models through techniques like A/B testing
• Document system processes, workflows, and technical procedures clearly and accurately
• Engage in technical consultations regarding application integration and infrastructure usage

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on Python development in web environments handling application logic and APIs
• 2+ years building applications powered by large language models (Google Gemini, Anthropic Claud, OpenAI GPT)
• 2+ years of experience comparing and selecting AI models in production (e.g., A/B testing)
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills for effective collaboration and documentation
• Solid understanding of Git-based source control and pull-request workflows
• Familiarity with secure software development, especially related to AI and sensitive data handling

Preferred Skills

• 2+ years deploying and supporting applications in cloud environments, especially Microsoft Azure (App Service, Storage, Key Vault)
• Previous experience working with state government agencies on AI-related projects
