Role Description

We are seeking an entrepreneurial data-science leader to design and lead an AI-driven lead-intelligence platform initiative. This role involves:

• Determining what data matters and how it should be collected and labeled.
• Transforming qualitative sales intelligence into quantitative predictions.
• Analyzing current sales-call recordings and interviewing sales organization members.
• Building an initial lead-scoring methodology and continuously improving it.

Responsibilities

• Develop the overall research, data and AI strategy for a proprietary merchant lead-intelligence platform.
• Analyze recorded sales conversations using transcription, natural-language processing, and qualitative research.
• Create a structured framework for extracting relevant information from calls.
• Interview sales representatives and company leadership to capture domain knowledge.
• Design reliable labeling and quality-control procedures for call transcripts.
• Identify signals predicting meaningful sales progression.
• Develop an initial transparent, rules-based scoring model.
• Progressively develop statistical and machine-learning models.
• Identify and evaluate external data sources relevant to merchants.
• Connect internal conversation insights to externally observable business signals.
• Design controlled sales experiments comparing AI-selected leads with existing processes.
• Establish appropriate performance metrics.
• Work with sales leadership to integrate lead recommendations into existing workflows.
• Build or manage the development of an initial working prototype.
• Develop appropriate documentation and data-governance practices.
• Help evaluate and recruit additional data, engineering or research talent.
• Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to business leadership.

Qualifications

• Advanced training or equivalent professional experience in data science, applied statistics, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience with predictive modeling, propensity modeling, or customer analytics.
• Strong Python and SQL capabilities.
• Experience with unstructured text, call transcripts, or natural-language processing.
• Familiarity with large language models.
• Ability to work effectively with limited historical data.
• Understanding of experimental design and model evaluation.
• Ability to combine qualitative business research with quantitative analysis.
• Strong product judgment and interest in building a commercial platform.
• Ability to work independently and communicate directly with leadership.
• High standards for confidentiality and responsible handling of information.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in merchant acquiring, credit-card processing, or financial services.
• Experience analyzing B2B sales calls or developing sales-intelligence systems.
• Familiarity with merchant categories and processing statements.
• Experience with speech-to-text systems and LLM evaluation.
• Experience combining internal data with external business data.
• Experience taking a data product from research through deployment.
• Previous startup or entrepreneurial experience.
• Experience managing technical contributors or development resources.

Initial Objectives

• Audit the information currently available, including sales-call recordings and CRM information.
• Interview company leadership and high-performing sales representatives.
• Develop a taxonomy for merchant needs and switching triggers.
• Build and validate an AI-assisted process for transcribing sales conversations.
• Produce an initial rules-based lead-scoring system.
• Recommend external data sources for prospect identification.
• Design a prospective experiment comparing prioritized leads.
• Deliver a working prototype and a roadmap for a production platform.

Salary

Candidates will be paid a competitive salary based on experience. Expected pay range is $70-80,000 per year. This position is full time and eligible for a full benefits package.
