Role Description

The Vice President / Director, Sport Operations will be responsible for the development, operation, and coordination of Pac-12 Conference Championship events, including the Football Championship, Basketball Tournament, and neutral-site championships. This role will also serve as the primary liaison for institutional game management personnel.

This role provides direction and guidance on all Pac-12 operational, logistical, design, and support elements for assigned Pac-12 Conference Championships, including neutral-site and campus-hosted championships, and other events as needed, providing expertise and value to existing events. This role will also serve as the primary Conference liaison/sport manager for assigned sports. This role will ensure compliance with Pac-12 Conference policies and procedures and will work to maximize profitability through efficient utilization of resources. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional event operations and sports experience, coupled with extraordinary management, supervisory, and motivational skills.

An elevated job title, up to Vice President, Sports Operations, will be considered commensurate with experience.

Location: The Pac-12 office is based in San Ramon, CA. This position is open to remote candidates in the states of California, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Idaho, Texas, and Utah.

Qualifications

  • Extensive collegiate athletic event and championship operations experience required.
  • Experience in staging special event (non-regular season) operations, preferably off-site from the regular campus environment.
  • 7-9 years of experience working in athletic event operations or sports administration at an NCAA Division 1 institution with an FBS football program.
  • Knowledge of college sports and the Pac-12 Conference, its member institutions, and sponsored sports.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and procedures.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely and professional manner.
  • Consistent demonstrated ability to be proactive, forward thinker.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to delegate efficiently.
  • Capacity to work effectively and efficiently under extreme deadline pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to analyze data and make sound decisions.
  • Skilled at successfully managing event revenue and expenses.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office & Google applications.
  • BA/BS from a four-year college or university.

Requirements

  • During peak times for major championship events, significant travel will be required.
  • It is expected that this position will work evenings and weekends, and possibly holidays during such time periods.
  • Physical labor is required for events, including but not limited to heavy lifting, working around loud noises, walking extended distances, standing, and possibly working in extreme weather conditions.
