[Hiring] Veteran Intern (General Office Assistant) @State of Michigan

Role Description

This is a contracted appointment that may last up to two years in duration. Paid internships occur throughout the State of Michigan.

• Completes program inventory
• Monitors the program email inbox
• Assists with program operations
• Attends trainings and events
• Sends mailings to customers
• Organizes and maintains stock rooms
• Provides additional program support as necessary
• Receives and responds to inquiries by providing directions, instructions, promotional material, or other general information
• Performs typing duties incidental to the work
• Enters, retrieves, updates, verifies, and deletes information from manual and electronic files
• Operates standard office equipment
• Collects, sorts, batches, alphabetizes, codes, and/or places in numerical order various documents for filing, storage, or processing
• Receives and responds to requests for information

Qualifications

• Education typically acquired through completion of high school
• No specific type or amount of experience is required

Requirements

• Be an honorably discharged veteran
• Attach a copy of your DD-214 to your application
• MDOT does not participate in E-Verify and does not sponsor visa applications
• All newly hired state employees are required to submit and pass a pre-employment drug test and physical (if applicable) prior to their actual appointment
• Criminal and driving records will also be checked if applicable
• Any position offer will be conditional until results of the drug test, physical, criminal background, and driving records indicate eligibility for employment
