[Hiring] UXO Technician I @HydroGeoLogic, Inc

Role Description

UXO Technician level 1 position with the potential for extensive travel and long-term on-site work as required. UXO Technician Level 1 personnel will be responsible for performing the following general types of duties:

• UXO surface sweeps, UXO subsurface clearances, UXO avoidance, and supporting geophysical/UXO surveys.
• Proficient with current metal detectors.
• Prepare firing systems, both electric/non-electric, for demilitarization operations.
• Transport demolition materials and/or UXO and DMM determined to be safe over public traffic routes.
• Assist in the inspection of MPPEH for the presence of explosive hazards.
• Construct UXO-related protective works.

To perform the duties of this position a person will need to be in good physical health and be able to lift 50 pounds in order to perform field tasks. Field tasks may take place in environments which include rugged terrain and weather extremes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, regulators, project team members, and company management.
• This position requires minimum 0 - 3 years of commercial UXO experience.
• Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for a UXO Technician 1 as outlined in Department of Defense Explosive Safety Board (DDEB) Technical Paper 18 (TP 18) Minimum Qualifications for Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Technicians and Personnel.
• Graduate of a formal course of instruction appropriate to this skill level.
• Must be able to perform all functions enumerated for UXO Sweep Personnel and UXO Technician.

Requirements

• Knowledge of Geonics EM61-MK2, Trimble GPS/PDA and CDL with hazmat endorsements is a plus.
• Computer knowledge with MS Windows, MS Excel, MS Project and PowerPoint a plus.
• BA or BS degree.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

• Ability to lift/move/relocate items up to 50 lbs.
• Prolonged standing up to 90% of the time.
• Walking long distances.
• Walking over uneven or mountainous terrain.
• Lifting, walking, driving, and working in harsh (hot/cold/windy/vegetated) environments.
• Repetitive hand motions (typing, tool use, etc.).
• Ability to see details at close range and at a distance.
• Viewing computer screen for extended periods.
• Ability to interpret and analyze visual data (maps, graphs, warning indicators, etc.).
• Operating heavy machinery or tools (would only include for a role for heavy equipment operator).
• Driving a company or personal vehicle.
• Climbing ladders or stairs.

Work Environment Requirements

• Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.).
• Must be able to travel up to 100%.
• May work in environments with loud noises, dust, or hazardous materials.
• Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Remote work environment.
• Potential for longer days up to 12 hours in duration.

Details

• Work Schedule: HGL office work is dictated by a 5-day work week; however, fieldwork schedules will deviate based on job requirements and may require longer hours and weekends.
• Office Type: Remote with travel to project sites, on-site.
• Travel: 100%.
• A favorable pre-hire drug test and physical are required.
• All positions are subject to a pre-hire education and driving record verification.
• This is a Service Contract Act (SCA) position.
