Role Description

The Systems Analyst is responsible for analysing business and system requirements and translating them into clear, well-defined functional and non-functional system requirements. The role acts as a key link between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, ensuring that requirements are understood, documented, and effectively translated into solutions for Software Development and Quality Assurance teams.

The role will be responsible for:

• Systems analysis, feature and enhancement design, data and integration flows, functional specifications.
• Ensuring that solutions meet defined functional and non-functional acceptance criteria.
• Investigating and documenting defects and system failures.
• Coordinating the resolution of escalated defects.
• Verifying implemented changes against requirements.
• Facilitating the handover of completed releases to the Application Deployment & Support team.

While the role may initially focus on a primary domain or product, it is designed to progressively build cross-domain and cross-product expertise through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and cross-skilling. The Systems Analyst will contribute to ensuring that technology solutions remain aligned with business requirements, customer needs, compliance standards, and product strategy.

Qualifications

• Matric.
• An appropriate IT qualification, such as Computer Science or Information Technology, will be beneficial.
• Relevant certifications, such as Agile BA, Azure, SQL/BI, or ITIL, will be beneficial.
• 3 years or more of Systems Analysis, Business Systems Analysis, Technical Business Analysis, or similar IT analysis experience.
• Relevant experience within the medical, healthcare, medical aid, medical schemes, healthcare insurance, clinical systems, medical claims, healthcare applications, switching, or related medical IT environments is required.
• Working knowledge of healthcare systems and the medical industry, including medical claims, medical software, switching, and clinical systems, will be advantageous.
• Experience gathering, analysing, documenting, and translating business requirements into functional and non-functional system requirements.
• Experience producing functional specifications, system requirements, data mappings, process flows, integration mappings, diagrams, or similar technical documentation.
• SQL and database knowledge, including SQL and NoSQL technologies.
• Sound understanding of web technologies.
• Sound understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Understanding of information security and governance.
• Understanding of cloud technologies and service platforms.
• UML knowledge will be beneficial.
• Experience working with Software Development and Quality Assurance teams.
• Experience with UAT, test scenarios, defect analysis, and quality verification.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with fluency in English.
• Strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills.
• Organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Technology and system savvy.
• Quality orientation and numeracy skills, including an understanding of basic accounting principles such as debits and credits.
