Role Description

The SRM Restoration Technician performs hands-on fire, water, mold, and other restoration and disaster-recovery work for the Large Loss Division. This position works as part of a field team to complete assigned project activities safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Company and client standards.

The Restoration Technician is responsible for performing restoration tasks, operating and maintaining assigned equipment, completing required field documentation, identifying and communicating hazards or operational concerns, and supporting Supervisors and project management in the successful completion of assigned work.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive at assigned project locations on time, in required Company uniform and with all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Attend daily project meetings, line-ups, safety meetings, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) or other required safety reviews.
  • Perform assigned restoration work in accordance with Company procedures, client requirements, project direction, and applicable safety practices.
  • Set up and maintain assigned work areas and ensure necessary tools, equipment, and supplies are available and organized for the work being performed.
  • Inspect assigned work areas for existing or potential hazards, communicate concerns to the Supervisor, Assistant Project Manager, or Project Manager, and follow required hazard-control procedures.
  • Use required PPE and help reinforce PPE and safety expectations with temporary labor or other workers assigned to the Technician when applicable.
  • Complete required field paperwork, daily reporting, photographs, moisture documentation, equipment records, timekeeping, and other project documentation accurately and timely.
  • Photograph and document project progress and upload or submit documentation using Company-required systems.
  • Perform content and damaged-content inventory and assist with pack-out activities as assigned.
  • Perform moisture mapping and monitoring in commercial and large-loss structures.
  • Extract water from affected structures and remove damaged materials, including flooring, drywall, and other materials as directed.
  • Set up containments and install, operate, monitor, and break down drying, remediation, extraction, and other restoration equipment.
  • Track and scan equipment, tools, materials, and supplies using Company-required systems and help ensure Company property is properly used, maintained, stored, and accounted for.
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of restoration equipment and report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to appropriate project personnel.
  • Perform basic selective demolition and other hands-on restoration activities as assigned.
  • Operate Company-owned or rented equipment for which the employee has been properly trained and authorized.
  • Assist with directing temporary labor when assigned by a Supervisor, Assistant Project Manager, or Project Manager and monitor the quality and safety of assigned work.
  • Help maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas, vehicles, equipment, and project spaces.
  • Communicate project concerns, equipment needs, safety issues, or other problems promptly to appropriate project management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as business needs require.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet applicable Company driving requirements.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions and complete required field documentation accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with coworkers, temporary labor, clients, and management.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a project team.
  • Dependability, adaptability, and ability to respond effectively to changing project needs and priorities.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to learn the operation and routine maintenance of restoration-related tools and equipment.
  • Ability to use handheld smart devices, project software, equipment tracking systems, and other technology required by the Company.
  • Ability to recognize potential hazards or operational concerns and communicate them promptly to appropriate project personnel.
  • Ability to meet applicable medical, safety, and training requirements associated with assigned work, including respirator medical evaluation and fit testing when required.

Preferred

  • Previous restoration, construction, remediation, demolition, or other related field experience.
  • Experience with water extraction, structural drying, moisture monitoring, containment, content handling, or selective demolition.
  • IICRC certification or restoration-related training.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction training.
  • Forklift, lift equipment, or other applicable equipment certification or experience.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily at active restoration and disaster-recovery jobsites throughout the United States. Conditions vary by project and may include indoor and outdoor work, construction and demolition environments, exposure to dust, debris, cleaning products or chemicals, wet or damaged structures, noise, and temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold. Work may be performed during rain, snow, or other adverse weather conditions. Required PPE must be worn based on jobsite conditions and assigned work.

Work Schedule & Travel Requirements

This position requires extensive nationwide travel as an essential function of the role and may require travel 200 or more days per year. Assignments may require travel by commercial aircraft and/or extended driving and may require remaining at project locations for extended periods.

Work schedules are driven by project, customer, and emergency-response needs and may vary significantly. Associates must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, extended shifts, and consecutive workdays. During active large-loss or emergency-response projects, shifts may exceed 12 hours and assignments may continue for multiple days or weeks. Associates must be able to respond to changing project needs and deployment requirements, subject to applicable law and Company policy.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this position include prolonged standing and walking; frequent bending, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, climbing, and repetitive use of the hands and arms. The associate must be able to climb ladders, work at elevated or ceiling heights, work in tight or confined work areas, and perform physical restoration and selective-demolition activities.

The associate must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and may occasionally be required to move items weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment. The position also requires the ability to wear required PPE, including a half-face or full-face respirator when necessary, and to complete applicable medical evaluation and fit-testing requirements.

Employees may also be required to operate or travel in Company vehicles for extended periods and perform work in varying weather and environmental conditions.
