[Hiring] Senior Staff Engineer @Energy Solutions - USA

Role Description
We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Staff Engineer to join our Policy & Ratings Department as a mechanical equipment specialist focused on regulatory and research initiatives. As a member of the Energy Solutions team, you will have a broad impact on state, national and international energy markets through our work for major utilities, city and state governments, and other national leaders in energy efficiency policy.
This role involves:
- Developing and leading both short-term and long-term strategies to optimize energy savings, load management potential, GHG reductions, and transform markets through codes and standards or other energy policy interventions
- Analyzing the savings, costs, and other impacts of energy efficient and low carbon technologies in the context of energy policy
- Overseeing product testing and other primary data collection strategies needed to fill data gaps in policy settings
- Participating in industry working groups and technical committees in support of voluntary or mandatory standards and test procedure updates
- Developing strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders to ensure policy proposals are feasible, equitable, and have ample stakeholder support
- Writing reports on technical topics, such as Title 24 code change proposal reports, including energy savings analyses, cost-effectiveness analyses, and market impacts analyses
- Developing and delivering presentations on technical topics to a variety of audiences, including clients, government agency decision makers, engineers, and other stakeholders
- Delegating and overseeing more straightforward technical tasks and responsibilities to junior level engineering staff
- Representing clients in public meetings, negotiated rulemakings, and in publicly docketed comments
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical engineering preferred)
- At least 10 years of engineering or work experience in related area
- Excellent verbal communication skills, demonstrated ability to write reports, technical papers, and provide technical presentations to knowledgeable audiences
- Ability to observe Pacific Time working hours as needed
- Willingness to conduct occasional business travel (approximately 3 to 5 times per year)
- Ability to work in the US without requiring Energy Solutions to commence or sponsor an immigration case in order to employ you now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in engineering (mechanical engineering preferred) and/or PE license
- Experience in the development process of Title 24, ASHRAE 90.1, ASHRAE 189.1, IECC, or other energy codes
- Experience in the development process of California’s Title 20, US DOE’s Appliance Standards Program, EPA’s Energy Star Program, or other state, national, or international appliance or equipment standards efforts
- Experience operating physics-based building energy modeling software such as EnergyPlus, DOE-2, and APACHE
- Experience representing large organizations in public meetings, including government hearings
- Track record of success working in collaborative roles with diverse teams of partners and industry stakeholders
- Existing network of professional contacts that contribute to codes and standards development
- Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges to support our company’s mission
Compensation
Compensation to commensurate with experience with the pay band of $120,000 - $150,000/Annually. Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a generous retirement package. Energy Solutions provides an excellent benefits package including medical, dental and vision insurance, other pre-tax contribution plans and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).

Office Locations and a Remote Workforce
Energy Solutions operates as a predominantly remote workforce with offices in six different locations. Employees who reside within 40 miles of an office (except New York) will be assigned to that location, though in-office attendance requirements may vary by team.
