Role Description

As a Localisation Engineer at Heidi, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the technical frameworks that enable our products to be seamlessly localised across multiple languages and regions.

• Partner with product managers, engineers, designers, and linguists to ensure our software is internationalisation-ready.
• Ensure localisation processes are efficient and the final experience is high-quality in every market.
• Act as a bridge between engineering and localisation, automating workflows, troubleshooting issues, and driving improvements.
• Design, implement, and optimise localisation workflows and automation pipelines.
• Ensure products are technically prepared for internationalisation (i18n), covering text handling, date/time/number formats, currency, right-to-left support, and encoding standards.
• Manage and integrate localisation platforms such as Crowdin, Smartling, and other TMS solutions with Heidi’s development and release processes.
• Support multiple file formats (JSON, XML, XLIFF, resource bundles, etc.) and ensure smooth integration with source control systems (e.g. Git).
• Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and QA teams to resolve localisation issues and ensure UI/UX works across languages.
• Conduct functional, linguistic, and UI testing for localised builds, troubleshooting issues like text expansion, truncation, or display errors.
• Build and maintain localisation documentation, style guides, glossaries, and best practices.
• Continuously improve localisation infrastructure for scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Experience as a localisation engineer or in a related technical role.
• Strong understanding of localisation and internationalisation principles.
• Proficiency in scripting or programming (e.g. Python, JavaScript, or similar) to automate workflows.
• Hands-on experience with localisation platforms such as Crowdin, Smartling, or comparable TMS/CAT tools.
• Familiarity with continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) and automation of localisation within build pipelines.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug technical and linguistic issues.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work across teams.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, global-ready products.
