Role Description
This role involves working as a Senior Fraud Investigator within the Prevent pillar of the Financial Crime & Fraud Team.
- Provide vital intervention and education to Monzo customers experiencing potential active fraud attempts.

Handle two main channels of fraud:
- Authorised card payment fraud
- Authorised faster payment fraud
- Support the quality of performance and knowledge across the pillar by answering escalations and supporting operational changes.
- Conduct complex investigations from start to finish for customers.
- Gather evidence from flagged transaction data.
- Use Monzo’s values to investigate suspicious transactions with empathy and attention to detail.
- Independently make decisions on cases and release or block flagged transactions up to a case value of £24,999.00.
- Submit accounts for closure where first party concerns are held following investigation.
- Triaging cases with a value of more than £24,999.00 for upwards escalation.
- Safeguard compromised accounts and take appropriate remedial action.
- Provide advice and support to victims of fraud on how to protect themselves in the future.
- Handle non-FOS complaints and provide feedback to Investigators and their managers.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements in fraud and/or financial crime.
- Strong knowledge of cryptocurrency and its use in fraud typologies.
- Excellent English written & verbal communication skills.
- Experience speaking to victims of potential fraud.
- Ability to be persuasive and empathetic.
- Strong expertise in investigating, problem solving, and decision making.
- Ability to work well independently and collaboratively with the wider team.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Values-driven approach in line with Monzo’s core values.
Requirements
- Experience in a Fraud or Financial Crime role within Financial Services.
- Exposure or experience in Cryptocurrency.
