Role Description

The Senior Director of Programs leads multiple SBP programs which provide housing solutions to communities impacted by natural disasters. This role ensures that all programs align with the organization's mission, deliver measurable impact, and meet funding and compliance requirements.

  • Lead a team of program managers and staff
  • Foster partnerships and drive continuous improvement across programs
  • Support the expansion and optimization of existing programs

These programs include:

  • BUILD: Operates across multiple disaster impacted communities serving thousands of low-income homeowners.
  • SHARE: Provides funding and best practices to local nonprofits and community groups to enhance programming efficiency.
  • Recovery Acceleration Fund (RAF): Bridges the gap for homeowners qualifying for CDBG-DR recovery grants.

Responsibilities

  • Program Oversight and Compliance:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive program strategies
    • Oversee the design, execution, and evaluation of all programs
    • Continuously assess program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement
    • Establish and oversee program evaluation frameworks
    • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to funders, partners, and leadership
    • Use data-driven insights to enhance program effectiveness
    • Maintain alignment on operating sites goals with COO
  • Budget and Financial Management:
    • Ensure compliance with grant requirements and regulatory obligations
    • Develop and manage program budgets in collaboration with the finance team
    • Monitor financial performance of programs and implement corrective actions
    • Support grant proposals and donor engagement efforts
  • Innovation, Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement:
    • Represent the organization at conferences and public events
    • Manage improvement projects across multiple operating sites
    • Serve as an internal technical expert in problem solving
    • Facilitate problem solving team events using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
    • Serve as thought partner to the COO on strategic questions
  • Talent Development and Performance Coaching:
    • Lead, mentor, and support program managers and staff
    • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures
    • Provide professional development opportunities for staff
    • Establish and track goals and KPIs for program staff

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in program management within the nonprofit sector
  • 5 – 7 years of experience managing team members across various programs
  • Proven success in developing, implementing, and scaling programs
  • Ability to travel 6-12 times per year
  • Experience managing budgets, grants, and compliance requirements
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and Google tools
  • Clear communication skills and a strong sense of maturity, positivity, and professionalism
  • Able to satisfactorily pass a Criminal History Check
