Role Description

The Senior Application Systems Analyst supports IT EMR Services. Acts independently under general supervision, requiring minimal instruction and guidance. Supports system applications, primarily Epic Ambulatory (Healthy/Compass Rose). Demonstrates high level of proficiency and expertise on software functionality and integration. Responsible for building system components, testing, implementation support and maintenance of assigned system applications.

• Performs in-depth analysis, troubleshooting, data collection, and root cause analysis.
• Identifies and/or implements potential solutions for issues related to the system or usage of it.
• Analyzes/reviews and tests each product release and communicates needed changes to operations.
• Documents and follows system change control procedures for the system.
• Works closely with other analysts, software vendors, and operations to ensure system integrity.
• Researches, analyzes, facilitates, and implements business and system workflows.
• Identifies best practices and implements opportunities for standardization.
• Prepares activity and other reports as necessary.
• Provides guidance and mentoring to more junior analysts.
• Attains necessary certifications, as applicable, in a timely manner according to policy.
• Provides On-Call support for application.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in clinical, healthcare, business, IT, or related field plus three (3) years of IT experience or clinical/operational experience, or any combination of the two.
• Bachelor's degree in clinical, healthcare, business, IT, or related field plus five (5) years of IT experience or clinical/operational experience or any combination of the two.
• Associate's degree in clinical, healthcare, business, IT, or related field plus seven (7) years of IT experience or clinical/operational experience or any combination of the two.
• High School diploma plus nine (9) years of IT experience or clinical/operational experience or any combination of the two required.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Epic Ambulatory and Epic Healthy Planet/Compass Rose - must be certified in the above application(s) or obtain certification within 12 months (per application) of the date of the last required class to be eligible for certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or progressively higher degree.
• IT experience plus Clinical or Operational experience.

Responsibilities

• Builds, configures, tests, supports, and maintains assigned applications to ensure system efficiency and integrity.
• Assesses user needs and translates business and operational requirements into system workflows and functional specifications.
• Troubleshoots system issues, performs root cause analysis, and identifies appropriate solutions.
• Coordinates issue resolution with end users, IT teams, vendors, and operational leadership.
• Tests system changes, upgrades, and new functionality to minimize risks and ensure successful implementation.
• Monitors applications following production changes to ensure data integrity, system stability, and successful resolution.
• Supports application integration and works with cross-functional teams to meet clinical and operational needs.
• Develops and maintains system documentation, reports, audit trails, change controls, and operating procedures.
• Supports application security and role-based access requirements in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and audit requirements.
• Participates in process and quality improvement initiatives and identifies opportunities to improve application functionality and stability.
• Leads and participates in IT projects, including system implementations, application upgrades, testing, and evaluation of software solutions.
• Uses project management tools and methodologies to support project scope, timelines, and objectives.
• Provides mentorship and guidance to other analysts and shares application knowledge with team members and operational stakeholders.
• Maintains appropriate certifications and stays current on industry and regulatory requirements that may impact assigned applications.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
