Role Description

This role involves providing outstanding service to Harbor Claims external and internal customers on liability claims.

Utilizes tact, diplomacy, and professional communication skills to positively represent Harbor Claims in telephone and email contacts.
Responds to a wide range of routine to complex inquiries and issues from claimants, agents, and third-party representatives.
Analyzes liability claims information to determine appropriate settlement within designated authority levels.
Requests, obtains, reviews, and evaluates outside experts’ opinions and information as needed.
Communicates with claimants regarding settlements and effectively negotiates when necessary.
Interviews and records statements of claimants and witnesses to gather pertinent information.
Settles claims and closes files, including those with increased complexity or severity.
Maintains clear communication with management and legal counsel for claims outside authority.
Monitors and reviews assigned liability claims in pre-suit and litigation stages.
Maintains thorough and accurate claims files in compliance with regulations and standards.
Identifies potential subrogation opportunities and communicates findings to subrogation specialists.
Provides assistance and support to team members across various departments.
Participates in special projects as a member of a group or independently.
Enhances Company success by taking advantage of learning and development opportunities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and six or more years of liability (3rd party) experience or equivalent.
A current Florida and/or New York Claims Adjuster license is strongly preferred.

Requirements

Strong organization and problem-solving abilities.

Advanced understanding of personal lines products and liability-related principles.
Proficient in business writing, grammar, and punctuation rules.
Knowledge of desktop computer operations and standard business software.
Thorough knowledge of Xactimate required.
