[Hiring] Senior Catalog Taxonomist @Parachute Health

Role Description

Parachute Health is building the most complete and accurate catalog of home medical equipment and supplies in the industry, and that catalog is at the heart of our entire platform. We are now hiring someone in-house to take over and grow the work done by a consultant on our in-house design standards, style guide, review practices, and universal merchandising attributes.

As our Catalog Taxonomist, you will:

• Be the expert on our taxonomy, information architecture, and catalog data model.
• Serve as the catalog administrator, set and enforce catalog standards, and own catalog functionality enhancements.
• Partner closely with Operations, Product, Design, and Engineering to ensure catalog accuracy and scalability.
• Work with engineers and a product manager to translate merchandising problems into actionable requirements.
• Identify gaps in the platform that impact time or accuracy and advocate for solutions.
• Grow the skills of the Merchandising team and influence R&D strategy.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in taxonomy, information architecture, and metadata or attribute modeling.
• Hands-on experience administering catalog or product information management (PIM) systems.
• A track record of spotting business gaps and articulating the cost of broken processes.
• Ability to turn ambiguous catalog problems into clear requirements.
• Strong cross-functional partnership skills.
• Systems thinking and a bias towards building durable processes.
• Motivated to up-level a team and open to management as the function matures.
• Healthcare, DME, or medical supplies domain experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of or experience in semantic web standards OWL and SKOS is a bonus.

Requirements

• Own the standards and structure of the global product taxonomy and catalog data model.
• Partner closely with the Cat Crew R&D team for catalog software capabilities.
• Drive catalog functionality enhancement requirements from definition to implementation.
• Document workarounds and quantify their costs in time and accuracy.
• Govern attributes, values, naming conventions, and data-quality standards.
• Maintain and evolve core catalog assets, including style guides and training materials.
• Interview category managers and subject-matter experts to learn about each category.
• Lead design reviews and provide effective feedback.
• Drive standardized identification of sourcing/provenance attributes.
• Set the long-term strategic direction for catalog data management and governance.
• Collaborate with the clinical division to launch new categories.
• Advance AI-assisted catalog tooling and workflows.
