Role Description

The Senior Business Systems Analyst serves as a key liaison between business stakeholders and application development teams. This role is responsible for gathering, documenting, and managing requirements; ensuring solutions meet business needs; and supporting the design, testing, and delivery of new or enhanced applications. The Senior Analyst works directly with the Director of Application Development to refine backlog priorities, and helps ensure requirements are clear, testable, and aligned with business goals.

• Requirements Gathering & Documentation:
  • Lead efforts to elicit business requirements through interviews, workshops, and document reviews.
  • Translate requirements into detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
  • Maintain a clear and traceable requirements repository within Azure DevOps or equivalent tools.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and the Application Development team.
  • Collaborate with product owners to refine backlog priorities and clarify requirements.
  • Facilitate communication across teams to ensure shared understanding of solution scope.
• Application Development Support:
  • Partner with developers and testers throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
  • Provide ongoing clarification of requirements during build and testing phases.
• Testing & Validation:
  • Assist in test planning and execution by validating that delivered solutions meet requirements.
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and help resolve defects or gaps identified during testing.
• Documentation & Knowledge Management:
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including use cases, workflows, and release notes.
  • Ensure knowledge is captured and shared across teams to support sustainability.
  • Maintain proficient knowledge of, and demonstrate ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to this position, ensure ongoing adherence to policies, procedures, and internal controls, and meet all training requirements in a timely manner.
• Continuous Improvement in App Dev Practices:
  • Contribute to improvements in requirements gathering, Agile practices, and development processes.
  • Mentor junior analysts in tools, documentation standards, and application lifecycle practices.
• Travel:
  • This position may require up to 10% travel for meetings, workshops, or project support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
• Formal training in business analysis, requirements gathering, or systems design strongly desired.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to translate business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across business and IT teams.
• Skilled in writing user stories, documenting requirements, and supporting software development lifecycles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Azure DevOps (or similar requirements management tools), and collaboration platforms such as SharePoint.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies required.

• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive business analysis experience within application development or IT.
• Proven ability to work with developers, testers, and product owners to deliver high-quality system solutions.
• Experience supporting Agile teams and participating in sprints, backlog grooming, and system testing.
