[Hiring] Security Director @ZODL

Role Description

The Director of Security will take responsibility for overseeing and improving the following processes within ZODL:

• Working with team leaders and engineers to maintain and improve high standards of security and resilience.
• Administering and improving the security incident response process, managing responses to security vulnerabilities.
• Communicating security flaws and mitigations to the Zcash and wider cryptocurrency and infosec communities.
• Building and maintaining relationships with other projects that share Zcash technology.
• Creating and managing relationships with external providers of security assessments.
• Helping ZODL’s staff secure their computing devices and respond to threats.
• On-boarding new staff to relevant security procedures and administering off-boarding processes.
• Directing the maintenance and acquisition of security-relevant infrastructure, devices, and software.
• Documenting and tracking security policy; maintaining procedures to ensure permissions match intended permissions.
• Ensuring compliance with applicable security-related regulatory requirements.
• Working with the Engineering Team and Q.A. lead on processes to head off bugs before they happen.
• Collaborating with the Head of Research and Assurance to improve cryptographic code assurance.
• Helping prioritize security mitigations relative to other activities.
• Reviewing the backlog of security issues to determine proper resolutions.
• Helping develop and maintain specifications for security analysis of the Zcash protocol.
• Maintaining awareness of developments in the wider Zcash community.
• Recruiting and onboarding new top-tier talent to security-focused roles.

Qualifications

• Experience with open-source software development and overseeing security aspects.
• Hands-on experience with developing secure and reliable code in modern programming languages.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work to deadlines and hold oneself accountable.

• Ability to make informed decisions under pressure.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of cryptography is highly desirable.
• Blockchain-related experience is strongly favored.
• Experience in administering or participating in security response processes.
• Experience in security analysis of protocols or algorithms.
