Role Description

Kentro is hiring for a Remote Risk Mitigation Analyst to support the VA ESOM contract. The analyst will support the identification, documentation, and tracking of non-cyber risks that could affect application recovery. This role assists engineers with tabletop preparation and evidence collection, maintains risk and corrective action records, and follows mitigation work through validation and closure. The position provides analytical and coordination support to the Operational Resilience Engineer and other technical staff.

Location: Remote - This position can be performed remotely within the United States and will support Eastern Time working hours.

Compensation Range: The pay range for this position is $120-$130K annually. Kentro determines compensation by evaluating current government contracting and commercial market conditions, as well as the role’s specific requirements. Final salary placement within this range will be based on the candidate’s relevant skills, experience, education, certifications, location, and security clearance level, where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Collect contingency plans, system diagrams, inventories, recovery requirements, procedures, and supporting records for review.
• Assist with identifying process, staffing, facility, vendor, resource, and technology dependency risks.
• Support development of exercise scenarios, questions, participant lists, evaluation criteria, and meeting materials.
• Record exercise decisions, observations, supporting evidence, unresolved questions, and assigned actions.
• Maintain a risk and corrective action register with owners, priorities, milestones, target dates, evidence, and status.
• Work with engineers and system owners to define clear mitigation steps and completion criteria.
• Monitor remediation progress and escalate overdue or high-risk actions through established program channels.
• Confirm that accepted risks are documented and approved by the appropriate authority.
• Coordinate follow-up reviews and collect evidence needed to validate corrective action closure.
• Prepare status reports on finding severity, aging, recurrence, remediation progress, and validated closure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline.
• 5 years of relevant experience.
• 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
• Experience in technology risk, operational resilience, disaster recovery, business continuity, audit, compliance, or program analysis.
• Knowledge of risk assessment, issue management, evidence review, and corrective action tracking.
• Ability to read technical plans and diagrams and summarize recovery risks accurately.
• Strong analytical, organizational, reporting, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, application owners, and program leaders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with NIST contingency planning controls and test, training, and exercise guidance.
• Experience managing audit findings, risk exceptions, plans of action and milestones, or similar corrective action records.
• Experience developing risk metrics, dashboards, or management reports.
• Familiarity with governance, risk, compliance, or service management platforms.
• Background supporting large federal, DoD, or public-sector IT environments.

Clearance Requirement

• US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card).
• Willing and able to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance.
• Must meet updated ID requirements.
