Role Description

The Risk Analyst plays a key role in the ongoing analysis of transactional and operational data to identify anomalies, emerging patterns and potential indicators of fraud, non-compliance and operational risk.

• The role contributes to the early detection of issues, enhances visibility of risk-related activity and supports the strengthening of preventative controls across the business.
• With a focus on daily and periodic data review, the development of analytical tools and reporting, and the extraction of insights to assess incidents and trends, the role supports informed decision making within the business.
• Working closely with the Risk Manager, the role provides accurate data-driven insights, maintains monitoring frameworks and contributes to investigations, control reviews and broader risk initiatives.

Qualifications

• Strong time management, analytical and organisational skills
• Advanced Excel capability (pivot tables, lookups, data manipulation)
• Strong communication skills – able to simplify complex information
• Methodical, forensic approach to data analysis
• Comfortable working with large, complex data sets
• Strong problem-solving capability
• Commercial awareness and understanding of operational risk

Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualifications (finance, accounting, data analytics, computer science, law, or risk management)
• Experience in operations, forensic accounting, risk analytics, compliance, or internal audit (ideally in retail)
• Experience with POS or ERP systems is highly regarded (e.g. Netsuite, Shopify)
