Role Description

McNees Wallace & Nurick is seeking an experienced Research Analyst to join our growing New Business Intake & Research team. This role is a key part of the firm’s research function, providing timely, high-quality research and analysis to attorneys and professional staff across a wide range of practice areas. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and thrives in a collaborative, service-focused environment. We offer flexibility in work location; this role is open to fully remote or hybrid schedule from any of our office locations, and will have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a respected, full-service law firm.

• Provide in-depth research and analysis, and prepare clear research reports and summaries related to competitive and business intelligence.
• Conduct online legal research using Lexis, Practical Law, and other legal and business databases.
• Assist attorneys with legal research needs and educate them on effective use of research tools.
• Set up, maintain, and curate client- and industry-specific news feeds and alerts using news aggregation software.
• Prepare legislative histories and related research materials.
• Proofread and perform cite-checking on briefs and legal documents.
• Administer the intel acquisitions process, including ordering resources and coordinating subscription renewals.

Qualifications

• Excellent research, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong project management, organizational, and analytical abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with attorneys and professional staff at all levels of the firm.
• Working knowledge of business and competitive intelligence research, as well as legal and business terminology.
• Master’s degree in Library or Information Science preferred (Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; prior legal or law firm experience is strongly preferred.
