YDay - Linda Werner & Associates is hiring a remote Public Policy Coordinator III. 💸 Salary: unspecified 📍Location: USA

Role Description

We are seeking two Public Policy Coordinators to support a fast‑moving team focused on evaluating emerging AI systems and monitoring political and societal developments that may influence product behavior, risk profiles, and policy considerations. This role is ideal for candidates who are deeply curious about the intersection of technology, politics, and public policy, and who thrive in environments where priorities shift quickly.

You will play a key role in stress‑testing AI systems, identifying potential policy‑relevant risks, and tracking breaking news and political developments to help anticipate how real‑world events may manifest within AI‑driven products. This work requires strong analytical instincts, excellent judgment, and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights.

This is a high‑impact opportunity for someone early in their policy or technology career who is eager to learn, contribute meaningfully, and grow within a mission‑driven team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct structured stress‑testing of AI systems to identify potential policy, safety, or integrity risks.
  • Monitor breaking news, political developments, and emerging issues—particularly within U.S. politics—and assess their potential implications for AI‑powered products.
  • Track narratives, trends, and public discourse that may influence system behavior or user interactions.
  • Support ongoing research and analysis to inform policy recommendations and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to surface findings, escalate concerns, and contribute to internal documentation.
  • Maintain organized tracking systems, logs, and reports to support team workflows and decision‑making.
  • Contribute to a culture of curiosity, rigor, and continuous learning within a small, high‑performing team.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of U.S. politics, including familiarity with the current administration, major political actors, and key policy debates.
  • Baseline knowledge of AI systems, including general concepts, capabilities, and limitations (deep technical expertise not required).
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience preferred, but candidates with less experience who demonstrate strong interest and aptitude will be considered.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities, and operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with major U.S. think tanks, research institutions, and policy organizations such as:
    • Cato Institute
    • Institute for Free Speech
    • People United for Privacy Foundation
    • R Street Institute
    • Hoover Institution
    • George Mason University policy centers
    • National Review
    • Federalist Society
    • Gatestone Institute
  • Experience analyzing political narratives, public opinion, or policy trends.
  • Background in political science, public policy, journalism, technology policy, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated interest in AI governance, trust & safety, or emerging technology issues.

Who Thrives in This Role

  • Individuals who are intellectually curious and proactive.
  • People who follow political news closely and enjoy connecting dots across fast‑moving events.
  • Those who are comfortable with ambiguity and rapid context‑switching.
  • Candidates who want to grow their expertise at the intersection of AI, politics, and public policy.

Why This Role Is Compelling

  • Work at the forefront of AI policy, risk assessment, and real‑time political analysis.
  • Contribute to high‑visibility workstreams with meaningful impact on product safety and public‑facing outcomes.
  • Join a small, collaborative team where your contributions will be immediately felt.
  • Gain hands‑on experience in a rapidly evolving policy and technology landscape.
