Role Description

We are seeking a Procurement Specialist . This role involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of products while maintaining cost-efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing, excellent negotiation skills, and a keen understanding of the lumber industry. This is a primarily remote position based out of Mid-West or West Coast areas with occasional travel to branch locations required.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Procurement Specialist in the lumber field.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Excellent understanding of supply chain management principles and best practices.
• Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

• Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to secure the best deals.
• Develop and implement purchasing strategies to meet the company’s needs for lumber and building materials.
• Analyze market trends and adjust procurement plans accordingly.
• Place orders, monitor inventory levels, and ensure timely delivery of products.
• Manage and resolve any issues related to order fulfillment and quality.
• Monitor and analyze purchasing costs.
• Develop strategies to reduce expenses and improve cost-efficiency while maintaining product quality.
• Coordinate with inventory and warehouse teams to ensure optimal stock levels.
• Assist in forecasting demand and adjusting procurement schedules as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information.
• Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, costs, and performance metrics.
• Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and legal regulations.
• Stay updated on industry standards and best practices.
