[Hiring] Principal Database Administrator @Alphabria

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Principal Database Administrator with a strong background in Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database management. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of hands-on experience, proven ability to work independently, and flexibility to ensure some overlap (~2 hours) with California business hours. Experience working in a time-critical environment like the Finance industry is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be able to perform complex technical activities in support of Oracle and MS-SQL RDBMS products which includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

• Install, administer, maintain, patch and optimize Oracle and MS-SQL in standalone and distributed environments.
• Provide independent day-to-day incident/deployment support for Oracle + MS-SQL databases using a ticketing system.
• Take on a technical leadership role in incident response, maintenance, documentation, and support of complex large, distributed servers environment.
• Develop and implement procedures that support proactive monitoring for problem detection and avoidance.
• Maintain and implement improvements to security, integrity, and backup/recovery procedures for Oracle and MS-SQL server environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues independently.
• Use Oracle Enterprise Manager for maintaining Oracle backups and restore.
• Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
• Implement best practices for database management and compliance (especially for banking/finance).

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10+ years experience as a Senior Database Administrator (Oracle + MS-SQL).
• Strong and independent understanding of Oracle and MS-SQL database technologies including but not limited to standalone and distributed databases.
• Proven experience with Oracle Cluster technologies.
• Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server high availability technologies.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to accommodate 2hrs of time overlap with the California time zone.
• Proven experience with database design, implementation, installation, and maintenance of different Oracle and MS SQL technologies.
• Strong skills in troubleshooting, issue resolution, and performance tuning.
• Experience with database security, backup, and recovery procedures.
• Excellent communication and documentation/reporting skills.
• Proven experience with Oracle utilities including but not limited to OEM, RMAN etc.
• Prior experience in the banking or financial services sector is a strong plus.
