[Hiring] Policy & Government Relations Associate @Brigit

Role Description

This role involves working directly with the Vice President, Policy and Government Relations to focus on state and federal work related to Upbound's brands, including Brigit, Acima & Rent-A-Center.

• Track bills and regulatory actions in lending and EWA, watching the legislative process and identifying where engagement is necessary.
• Manage local lobbyists in states where local engagement is necessary.
• Build relationships with state and federal regulators and legislators to educate them on Brigit’s business and promote understanding of EWA.
• Engage in local legislative processes via comment letters, bill drafting, etc., to ensure the business model is well accounted for in state laws.
• Work closely with compliance, legal, and product teams to ensure the product aligns with upcoming legislative changes.
• Participate in trade associations and collaborate with other companies to promote inclusive regulation for the industry.
• Work with internal and external resources to craft communications and PR strategies beneficial for the passage of bills.
• Perform any other related activities as assigned by the Head of Public Policy and Government Relations and the General Counsel of Upbound.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of policy experience in public policy and/or government relations within financial services and/or fintech.
• Experience in helping to pass at least one law at the state level from conception to bill passage.
• Experience in monitoring and analyzing state and federal legislation and regulatory actions in lending and EWA.
• Experience managing local/state lobbyists and coordinating advocacy efforts.
• Strong capability to build and maintain relationships with regulators and legislators to educate stakeholders on the business, customer impact, and the EWA model.

Requirements

• This is a full-time remote role (US only), with travel expectations up to 50%.

Compensation

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $110,000 - $150,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or benefits for which an individual may be eligible. The actual base salary offered depends on various factors, including qualifications, years of relevant experience, specific skills, education level, certifications, and location.
