[Hiring] Organ Procurement Transplantation Network (OPTN) Subject Matter Expert @General Dynamics Information Technology

Role Description

GDIT has an opportunity for an Organ Procurement Transplantation Network (OPTN) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team. The OPTN Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides high-level policy, operational, and technical guidance to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to ensure robust oversight of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN). The SME acts as a primary advisor on organ allocation frameworks and regulatory integrity, bridging the gap between federal mandates and clinical operations. This role is critical in advancing patient safety through rigorous event analysis, stakeholder education, and the development of transparent, accountable compliance workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Public Health, or Policy with over 20+ years of experience (Master’s degree preferred with 15+ years of experience).
• Deep expertise in OPTN policies, bylaws, and organ allocation frameworks.
• Extensive experience supporting federal regulatory programs (direct experience with HRSA highly preferred).
• Direct clinical or administrative experience within a Transplant Center or Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) or an Organ Center.
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance and meet agency residency requirements.
• Must be able to commute to customer site in Rockville, MD when needed.

Requirements

• Advanced knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA processes, and patient safety reporting.
• Ability to translate complex policy and performance data into executive-level briefings and strategic recommendations.
• Experience in help desk or consultative environments, providing clear guidance to diverse stakeholders in a regulated industry.
