[Hiring] Nutrition Consultant @World Food Programme

Role Description

The Nutrition Consultant will actively contribute to WFP’s child wasting and maternal undernutrition approach, focusing on prevention and management based on global normative guidance, standards, and evidence. The consultant will work closely with colleagues in the Nutrition and Food Quality Service and Regional Bureaux to enhance the integration of nutrition across WFP's portfolio.

Qualifications

• An advanced degree in international nutrition, agriculture, food security, health, or other areas relevant to nutrition-sensitive programming.
• At least 10-15 years of programming experience, particularly in food-based approaches to nutrition.
• Experience with multi-sectoral interventions/programmes related to nutrition and food security.
• Strong experience in capacity building initiatives & delivering training.
• Experience working in emerging areas of nutrition such as adolescent girls and behaviour change communication.
• Monitoring and evaluation experience required.
• Experience working in emergency settings is desirable.
• Experience in gender-focused programming is desirable.
• Experience generating learning modules/programme guidelines required.

Requirements

• Knowledge of multi-sectoral drivers of malnutrition.
• Knowledge of global and country-level nutrition architecture.
• Knowledge of scientific methods and ability to critically analyse emerging global evidence.
• Ability to work independently.
• Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural setting.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Fluency in English and excellent writing skills required; working knowledge of another UN language is preferred.

Deliverables at the End of the Contract

• Finalize and roll out a comprehensive set of corporate technical guidelines and toolkits on child wasting.
• Provide remote and in-person technical support to at least 3 country offices in the design and implementation of programmes addressing child wasting and maternal undernutrition.
• Represent WFP in major global nutrition forums and lead the MAM sub-working group under the GNC.
