Role Description
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Billing Support Specialist to join our team. This role will focus on improving our billing processes and increasing our collection rate. The ideal candidate will take ownership of claim re-work and generation of statements to billing components of our business by working collaboratively to resolve billing issues, reduce denials, and optimize revenue collection.
This part-time position requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-intensive environment and is comfortable with the manual aspects of claim follow-up, such as making phone calls and resolving claim discrepancies.
- Claim re-work and denial management to ensure accurate submission and timely payment
- Follow up on claims requiring manual resolution, including making phone calls to payers or other stakeholders
- Maintain and update tracking sheets to reflect claim re-work progress and outcomes
- Identify patterns and root causes of denied claims and work with the billing team to implement solutions that reduce future denials
- Billing statement generation for monitoring and collecting patient copayments in a timely way
- Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to gather any missing information necessary for claim submission
- Follow up with patients as needed regarding claims, unpaid copays, etc. ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- 2+ years in medical billing, revenue cycle management, or a related field, preferably in a physical therapy or healthcare setting
- Familiarity with CPT coding and denial management
Requirements
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, particularly for payer and patient interactions
- Experience with billing software (preferably PT-specific systems)
- Knowledge of physical therapy reimbursement and billing processes
