You will translate laboratory and business needs into prioritized requirements, product roadmaps, backlogs, and investment plans.

You will partner closely with R&D laboratory teams, IT, Quality, Information Security & Risk Management, Technology Quality, Supply Chain, and external vendors to deliver secure, scalable, compliant, and sustainable solutions. This role is an opportunity to shape a harmonized laboratory technology and scientific data ecosystem across a global R&D organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead Product Strategy and Roadmaps
    • Define and maintain the product vision, multi-year roadmap, governance model, and lifecycle strategy for laboratory systems and scientific data platforms.
    • Align technology priorities and investment plans with R&D business objectives and laboratory needs.
    • Identify opportunities for harmonization, simplification, automation, application rationalization, and AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Own and Govern Laboratory Applications
    • Serve as Business Owner, or provide governance and direction to designated Business Owners, for assigned laboratory applications, including ELN/LIMS, Compliance Builder, and related technologies.
    • Own demand intake and prioritization and translate user needs into business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and an actionable product backlog.
    • Lead release planning, deployment readiness, demonstrations, adoption planning, training coordination, hypercare, and value realization.
    • Execute application sustainment and lifecycle processes, including incident escalation, change control, performance monitoring, feedback cycles, periodic reviews, and lifecycle decisions.
  • Shape Scientific Data and Master Data Practices
    • Develop the scientific data storage strategy, including business requirements and data governance, application selection, storage methodology, access, retention, archival, continuity, and lifecycle management across cloud and on-premises environments.
    • Establish and maintain governance for laboratory master data, including ownership, data quality, standards, change processes, and periodic review expectations.
    • Partner with IT, solution architecture, infrastructure, cybersecurity, validation, data integrity, and quality teams to define requirements and coordinate delivery.
  • Lead Delivery, Vendors, and Investment Planning
    • Manage product-related budgets, forecasts, timelines, dependencies, risks, vendor commitments, and investment recommendations.
    • Coordinate software, data platform, cloud, infrastructure, and professional-service providers and escalate performance or service concerns.
    • Track and communicate meaningful product, adoption, service, and value measures, including applicable KPIs and OKRs.
  • Partner Across the R&D Enterprise
    • Build strong partnerships with R&D laboratories, IT, Quality, Manufacturing Quality, Supply Chain, Information Security & Risk Management, Technology Quality, and other functions using shared laboratory technologies.
    • Facilitate requirements workshops, roadmap reviews, governance forums, and leadership updates; communicate priorities, progress, value, risks, and decisions clearly.
    • Lead business change management, stakeholder engagement, communications, training, and adoption activities for laboratory technology deployments.
    • Partner with the R&D Applications & Master Data team and stakeholders to develop a holistic technology roadmap and technology governance process for DePuy Synthes R&D.
    • Act as the primary business escalation and coordination point for laboratory applications, scientific data storage, connectivity, workstation, access, and related technology issues.
    • Mentor and train laboratory personnel, Business Owners, product team members, and contractors; may supervise a limited number of direct reports and sponsor contract resources depending on scope.
  • Quality, Compliance, and Leadership Expectations
    • Ensure appropriate consideration of GxP and non-GxP requirements, data integrity, validation, cybersecurity, Good Documentation Practice, and technology risk governance.
    • Demonstrate strong initiative, prioritization, analytical thinking, issue resolution, flexibility, and follow-through while managing concurrent responsibilities.
