[Hiring] Lead Mining Optimisation Consultant @Mine Tech Services

Role Description

We are looking for a motivated, self-starter to join our growing team. This will be a diverse and interesting technical position in a rapidly evolving sector. The role would involve working with a broad range of people from Mine Managers and Engineers to Software Developers and Data Scientists. It will have a significant focus on the use of mining technology and data, and can be broken down into three broad remits:

• Mine Site Studies: Assist with on-site analysis to identify and quantify an operation’s unique challenges, and to provide recommendations on how they can be overcome.
• Implementation of Mining Technology: Assist mines in measuring, managing and addressing these challenges (ranging from software and solution deployments through to change management and mentoring sessions).
• Effective Data Visualisations: Develop and deploy appropriate and robust data visualisations (PowerBI and Tableau) to enable a site to manage specific challenges on an ongoing basis.

Training and mentoring will be provided to develop the individual’s technical expertise as required.

As a Lead Mining Optimisation Consultant, you will be expected to lead, manage and deliver projects for our clients across the globe. This will include managing and mentoring junior members of the team and providing progress updates to the senior management team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in the mining or related industry
• 2+ years experience in a technology-focused role
• Degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical/Geological Engineering, Earth or Environmental Sciences, Computer Science/IT/Programming, or Mechanical Engineering
• Strong interest in using technology and data to solve operational mining problems
• Experience with mining operations, equipment, or industrial systems
• Experience with data analysis and/or data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Good listening skills with the ability to understand client needs in a consultancy environment
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Willingness to travel frequently internationally, including South America, North America, Africa, Central Asia, and Oceania
• Interest in consulting, problem-solving, and operational improvement
