[Hiring] Journeyman – Traveling HVAC Data Center Chiller Technician @Carrier

Role Description

As an Traveling HVAC Journeyman Data Center Chiller Technician with Carrier, you will uniquely impact our customers, becoming the face of the confidence we stand by while ensuring their comfort. Your knowledge of Commercial HVAC will be critical in working on a variety of installations, repairs, and maintenance projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about their trade and wants to take their skills to the next level.

• Travel to different Data Center Sites on a long-term rotational travel schedule (4 weeks traveling / 1 week off).
• Participate in startup and commissioning of new units, applying expertise to support a state-of-the-art facility.
• Perform diagnostic tests, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical malfunctions, and execute regularly scheduled maintenance on heating and cooling units.
• Review and interpret regulatory requirements and technical documents, including blueprints and diagrams.
• Cultivate strong customer relationships and ensure timely escalation of issues for resolution when necessary.
• Prioritize safety by adhering to licensing requirements, operating equipment safely, recognizing HVAC-related hazards, completing safety training, and implementing effective safety measures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Maintain a valid Driver’s License.
• Have an EPA Universal certification.
• 5+ years working experience in the HVAC Industry.
• 3+ months working with centrifugal chillers.
• Ability to lift 50lbs and able to stand, crawl, sit, squat, climb ladders and work on rooftops for extended periods.

Requirements

• OSHA 30 Certification (valued, but not required).
• Experience on Carrier, Trane and Diken Air Cooled and Water-Cooled Centrifugal Chillers (valued, but not required).
• Basic understanding of building automation controls (BOMAC) (valued, but not required).
• Experience with data centers (valued, but not required).
• Experience with Steam Turbines (valued, but not required).
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal (valued, but not required).
• Knowledge of ServiceMax (valued, but not required).
• Strong working knowledge of 19XR, 30CF, and CDU chillers (valued, but not required).
• Air-side systems (constant volume, VAV) (valued, but not required).
• Water-side systems (hot water, chilled water, condenser water) (valued, but not required).
