[Hiring] International Consultant – Analysis of Child Poverty in Equatorial Guinea @AGORA

Role Description

Under the supervision of the Deputy Representative of UNICEF and focal point for social policy in Equatorial Guinea, the consultant will support the national team, under the technical leadership of the National Institute of Statistics of Equatorial Guinea (INEGE), in conducting a study on child poverty using data from the ENH2.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Demography, Social Sciences, Computational Sociology, Complex Systems, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience.
• PhD candidates will be viewed favorably.

Requirements

• A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in developing scoring systems or similar for identifying and prioritizing households and children in vulnerable situations based on poverty analysis and proposing targeting criteria for social protection interventions for households with children, adolescents, or youth.
• Strong methodological knowledge and skills in data analysis, statistics, and report writing for social development programs.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct research independently.
• Fluency in Spanish and English; knowledge of another UN official language (especially French) or a local language will be considered an advantage.

Desirables

• Experience in designing socioeconomic indices and working with statistical and survey data.
• Familiarity with emerging methods, such as computational social sciences, and with non-traditional data sources, such as social media or satellite imagery.
• Knowledge of open-source software for data analysis (Stata, SPSS, R, Python, etc.).
• Good oral and written communication skills in Spanish and English.
• Experience working in developing countries and/or familiarity with emergency contexts will be considered an advantage.
• Experience in analyzing monetary and multidimensional child poverty will be considered an advantage.
