[Hiring] Hydrographer/Geophysicist @Bedrock Ocean Exploration

Role Description

We are the explorers. We are the builders. We are the Wayfinders. Bedrock is mapping the unseen world beneath our oceans and building the systems to do it at scale. We're hiring a Hydrographer/Geophysicist to work with some of the highest-resolution seafloor data on the planet.

• Process and analyze multibeam, sidescan, magnetometer, and sub-bottom data from Bedrock field tests and commercial operations.
• Own rapid, iterative feedback on data quality.
• Engage with customers discussing data quality, interpretation, and deliverables.
• Teach clients how to read data and understand its value.
• Contribute to defining uncertainty and accuracy in ocean data.
• Collaborate with major governments on ocean data standards.
• Work with Bedrock leadership to maintain the highest data quality standard in the industry.

Qualifications

• Experience processing and reporting on at least two of: MBES, SSS, magnetometer, sub-bottom profiler, using commercial software.
• Comfort with ArcGIS, QGIS, and/or AutoCAD.
• Experience writing data reports for commercial clients.
• Attention to detail.

Requirements

• Experience across all four relevant sensor types (MBES, SSS, magnetometer, sub-bottom profiler) - nice to have.
• Light coding (Python/SQL) - nice to have.
• Offshore experience (ship or AUV ops) - nice to have.
• Certified Hydrographer, Cat A or Cat B; Licensed Surveyor - nice to have.
• Experience across defense (mine countermeasures, unexploded ordnance), energy (oil & gas, offshore wind), and/or environmental survey - nice to have.

Benefits

• Estimated compensation for this position is $95,000- $130,000 annually plus equity.
• Actual salary offered will be based on qualifications, experience, and location (SF and NY being at the high end of the band).
