Role Description

Valiant is looking for a HST Fires SME to join our team! This position is a full-time Exempt (salary) position, supporting the ARNG Mission Command Training Support Program (MCTSP). The Higher Command Support Team Fires SME will teach, coach, train, and mentor ARNG Division and Brigade Commanders and Staff counterparts in the philosophy of Mission Command, the art and science of fires doctrinal foundations within the Large-Scale Combat Operations (LSCO) to include Multi-Domain Operations and Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE) context. May support work originating from any/all the MTC locations.

• Replicate the Fires Warfighting Function (WFF) and serve as the Higher Command (HICOM) Fires staff principle during the MDMP, STAFFEXs, and FTX or CPXs.
• Support pre-exercise (CPX/FTX) staff exercises (STAFFEX) and academic/instructional opportunities.
• Assist in training Commanders and Staff in Operational Design, the Operations Process, Multi-Domain Operations, and other FIRES WFF associated topics.
• Prepare units to effectively conduct command and control processes, facilitating the synchronization of all FIRES WFF requirements and capabilities.
• Attend all planning conferences and provide recommendations for METL derived training objectives.
• Develop the FIRES WFF inputs to and support general development of the overarching “road-to-war” scenario.
• Coordinate with Officer Senior Trainer (OST) / Enlisted Senior Trainer (EST) and Simulation Support Teams.
• Support the establishment of a tactical battle-rhythm from the FIRES WFF perspective.
• Synchronize, prepare, and deliver daily Air Tasking Orders (ATO).
• Analyze and distribute Fires WFF products/injects to support publication of Operational Summaries (OPSUMS), Intelligence Summaries (INTSUMS), and other operational documents.
• Prepare and issue all Joint Exercise Lifecycle (JELC) Products in analog format and digitally via the appropriate Mission Command Information Systems (MCIS).
• Prepare FIRES WFF inputs to and support development of a Master Scenario Events List (MSEL).
• Prepare all JELC related products to ensure robust replication and immersion of the training audience.
• Role-play notional higher and adjacent units throughout the exercise.
• Prepare, submit input, and participate in informal and formal exercise After Action Reviews.
• At the discretion of HST Team Lead or Direction of MCTSP, serve as special project officer on MCTSP initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance required.
• MS or MA degree, subject immaterial. Graduate of a military Senior Service College preferred.
• Must have a background of at least twenty (20) years of experience in the Army (active Army, Army Reserve or Army National Guard).
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience with exercise planning using the JELC process.
• Senior Army or ARNG Field Artillery leadership experience in training management backgrounds, Combat Training Center, and operational or combat experience preferred.
• Individuals who have successfully served as a Brigade staff principle (Division or Corps staff principle preferred) within the specific WFF (Fires) they represent.
• Must have successfully commanded at the MTOE Battalion (Brigade level command preferred) within their respective WFF.
• Experienced in large-scale live and constructive exercises, a doctrinal expert within the Fires WFF, and familiar with Army Command and Control Information Systems.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication, problem-solving skills.

Requirements

• Position: Office environment, occasionally outdoors.
• Occasional exposure to natural conditions existing at different locations around the US.
• Work Week: Monday-Friday (may vary based on mission requirements).
• Work Hours: 0800 - 1700 (may vary based on mission requirements).
• Overtime: As Required.
• Travel: As Required.
