[Hiring] Health, Safety, Security & Environment Specialist @JLL

Role Description

The HSE Specialist position will be a key member of the Property Management team and will report to the JLL Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) manager. Periodic travel may be required to various sites to investigate events or situations, as well as travel to various meetings (estimated 10% to 20% travel).

• Support JLL's Canadian operations in achieving HSE goals by assisting in the development and continuous improvement of HSE culture across property management teams.
• Support the operation teams to identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage and/or adverse effects to the environment using appropriate HSE standards, best management practices, and analytical techniques.
• Ensure that accidents, injuries, environmental incidents, near misses, Good Catches, and other events are captured, and the data is managed and reported. Support adoption and usage by the Property Management team of JLL’s global accident & incident management system.
• Participate with operating sites as needed to lead/support HSE investigations, analyze causal factors, support/track the implementation of effective corrective actions, and prepare communications to share lessons learned across the operations.
• Support proactive return-to-work program and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Assist in executing program roll-out strategies at the property level for environment (such as but not limited to legionella, storage tanks, air emissions, hazardous chemicals, refrigerants) and H&S (such as but not limited to work at height, LOTO, confined space, electrical safety, machine guarding, vehicles, ergonomics), including on-site support, audits, and inspections.
• Support JLL sites operations to meet and exceed regulatory requirements compliance.
• Work with JLL HSE leadership using existing policies, tools, and resources to support the development, implementation, and management business-specific documentation related to the HSE management system (playbooks, procedures, guidelines, etc.) and records required by JLL, applicable regulations, and clients.
• Support deployment and tracking of JLL employee training requirements.
• Participate in onboarding of new properties/team members and implement JLL HSE requirements during transition activities.
• Review and analyze multi-sourced data to prepare status reports and presentations.
• Support continuous improvement of the environmental and H&S management system. Perform gap analysis and audits against multiple source requirements (legal and internal), identify improvement opportunities and track non-compliances to closure.
• Support the HSSEQ Americas and Global teams in rolling out new compliance and best management practices programs across the Property Management team.
• Support Operations and ESG teams to roll out relevant programs and support pursuit and maintenance of relevant building certifications (e.g. BOMA Best).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience.
• Working knowledge of environmental, safety and occupational health regulations across Canada.
• Experience in managing and mitigating HSE risks related to operations.
• Rigorous, structured, and analytical mind.
• Ability to autonomously manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to extract and clearly communicate key messages to peers and operations teams.
• Creative problem-solving skills, global thinking, and ability to employ intelligent flexibility with pragmatic solutions.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual French-English preferred.
• Relevant professional certification(s) a plus.

Compensation

Estimated compensation for this position: 86,000.00 – 97,000.00 CAD per year. This range represents the estimated base salary and actual compensation may differ. Final base salary is determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations. Some roles and employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, benefits, or other compensation.
