[Hiring] Head of APAC @Zepz

Role Description

As the Head of APAC, you will be the ultimate executive responsible for driving the commercial expansion, strategic growth, product launches, and operational optimization of the Company across the Asia-Pacific region. You will hold full accountability and responsibility for APAC growth targets, taking end-to-end ownership of Volume, Revenue, and regional PnL. You will build the partner network, commercial deals, and local operational engines needed to launch, scale, and optimize them rapidly. This role requires an ambitious commercial mindset, exceptional matrix leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of cross-border financial markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Regional Expansion & Growth Strategy
  • Commercial PnL & Target Ownership: Meet and exceed all targets set across Volume, Revenue, and regional PnL. Take full accountability for scaling the region’s market share and bottom-line growth.
  • Corridor & Network Expansion: Identify, negotiate, and execute strategic partnership and banking network expansion opportunities across emerging and developed APAC markets.
  • Launch & Market Optimization: Lead end-to-end market entry and expansion strategies, integrating local real-time payment rails and partner networks to maximize transaction speed, cost efficiency, and customer experience.
  • Commercial FX & Margin Strategy: Partner closely with internal Pricing, FX Trading, and Treasury teams to continuously optimize corridor pricing models. Drive regional FX spread margins, ensure competitive liquidity across high-volume APAC currency pairs, and maximize overall revenue margins.
• Team Leadership & Matrix Governance
  • Direct Regional Management: Lead and manage the regional commercial team, driving accountability, setting KPIs, and mentoring direct reports including:
    • Regional Managers
    • Business Development Managers
    • Commercial Managers
  • Cross-Functional Matrix Leadership: Manage and collaborate across indirect reporting lines and work streams that filter into regional Business Partners, aligning multi-disciplinary teams around expansion and revenue goals:
    • Launch & Product Teams (market readiness, feature rollouts, rails integration)
    • Marketing Teams (multi-channel acquisition and localized growth campaigns)
    • Payment Operations Teams (route efficiency, settlement, scaling infrastructure)
    • Pricing Teams (dynamic rate management and corridor margins)
    • FX Traders (underlying liquidity support and panel coordination)
  • Country Directorship & Governance: Concurrently serve as, or oversee, Country Director roles based on business needs, managing local regulatory relationships and government interactions to facilitate seamless market launches.
  • Executive Stakeholder Management: Report performance metrics, expansion milestones, and revenue updates directly to the ExCo and senior leadership.
• Infrastructure, Launch Execution & Risk
  • Cross-Functional Delivery: Lead the alignment between Business Development, Launch, Product, and Tech teams to ensure new market rails, APIs, and commercial features are brought to market at pace.
  • Operational Scalability: Automate cross-border and operational processes to scale corridor capacity without increasing overhead friction.
  • Risk & Regulatory Oversight: Oversee regional commercial and exposure risks, ensuring full compliance with local regulatory standards across all operating entities.

Qualifications

• Proven Business Development Leader: Track record of driving rapid revenue growth, expanding complex markets, and consistently hitting Volume, Revenue, and PnL targets.
• Expansion & Launch Expertise: Demonstrated experience entering new geographies, launching cross-border payment corridors, and building strategic financial or distribution partnerships across APAC.
• Matrix Leadership: Proven ability to manage direct commercial teams while effectively leading indirect, multi-functional partner teams (Product, Marketing, Operations, Pricing, FX) to execute cross-company initiatives.
• APAC Market Mastery: In-depth knowledge of APAC financial markets, payment infrastructure, local regulatory environments, and consumer payment preferences.
• Dealmaking & Negotiation: Exceptional skills in sourcing, structuring, and closing complex, first-in-kind commercial agreements.
• Strategic Drive: An autonomous, highly energetic self-starter with a bias for action and the strategic vision to build a dominant market presence in high-volume corridors.
• Cross-Border & FX Commercial Knowledge: Solid understanding of FX mechanics, cross-border payment rails, and currency spread optimization across APAC corridors.

AI Literacy & Tools

• A genuine curiosity about AI and how it can be applied in your area of work — from accelerating analysis and insight generation, to improving how we design and deliver processes and communications.
• Practical experience using AI tools in a professional context — whether to connect information, draft content, build frameworks, or create insights from data.
• Strong AI literacy — an understanding of what AI assistants can and cannot do, how to prompt effectively, and how to critically evaluate AI-generated output before using it.
• Awareness of the ethical considerations and responsible use of AI in the workplace, particularly in the context of sensitive data, customer experience, and compliance.
• Prior experience using Claude (Anthropic) is a nice-to-have but not essential.
