[Hiring] Field Evaluations Inspector @UL Solutions

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Field Evaluation professional with strong knowledge of CSA B149.3 and SPE-1000 to provide inspection services to manufacturers in Alberta and Western Canada. The successful candidate will be an experienced Field Evaluation Inspector with demonstrated knowledge and experience in CSA B149.3 and SPE-1000 field evaluations.

• Strong technical knowledge of CSA B149.3 and SPE-1000 requirements.
• Proven experience conducting field evaluations and inspections.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong technical judgment and the ability to make sound decisions while working on customer sites.
• Ability to assess technical issues, identify compliance concerns, and determine appropriate courses of action.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with manufacturers, customers, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Travel to client and manufacturer sites to conduct field evaluations of equipment, perform required tests and prepare inspection reports.
• Independently determine project scope, cost, and timelines by evaluating client information, available technical documentation, and product construction.
• Identify and communicate changes that may affect the original project scope, technical requirements, cost, or schedule.
• Review inspection reports prepared by peer field evaluation inspectors.
• Maintain regular communication with clients regarding project status, technical findings, compliance issues, and evaluation results.
• Initiate communication with prospective and existing clients to explain and promote relevant services and their benefits, and help identify opportunities to support client needs.
• Assist with the mentoring, technical development, and qualification of junior Field Evaluation staff.
• As required, represent UL at technical committees, industry meetings, seminars, trade shows, and other relevant industry functions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Position requires approximately 70% travel time.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering; P.Eng designation preferred.
• Previous field evaluation experience with CSA B149.3 and CSA SPE-1000.
• Strong client-facing skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
• Candidate must be located in the Alberta, Canada area and close to an airport due to travel.

Requirements

• The estimated salary range for this position is $96,000 to $115,000 CAD.
• This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 10% of the base salary.
• This position also provides health benefits including dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings.
• Full-time employees receive paid time off including vacation (15 days), statutory holidays, 3 personal days, and sick time off (80 hours).
