Role Description

Responsible for creating or auditing a comprehensive estimate of damages for 1st and 3rd party material damage claims in either the auto or specialty lines leading to the proper disposition. Responsible for training, mentoring, controlling quality and providing technical assistance on material damage claims.

National General is seeking a Field Auto Appraiser to join our Claims team. This remote, territory-based role handles auto claims both virtually and in the field throughout the Asheville, NC market, including Hendersonville, Waynesville, and surrounding western North Carolina areas.

The ideal candidate will have experience inspecting vehicles, preparing accurate damage estimates using CCC ONE , and working closely with customers and repair facilities to support timely and effective claim resolution while delivering exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Auto Damage Appraiser, Field Appraiser, Auto Claims Adjuster, body shop, collision repair, or automotive repair facility experience
• Proficiency using CCC ONE estimating software
• Experience conducting in-person vehicle inspections and preparing accurate repair estimates
• Strong understanding of auto repair processes, vehicle construction, and damage evaluation
• Ability to effectively negotiate with repair facilities, vendors, and customers
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and travel within the assigned territory

Requirements

• Possesses strong estimating fundamentals in order to create or audit estimates of damages on 1st and 3rd party material damage losses of all severities
• Possesses a deep understanding of the content of all policy types written by the company
• Negotiates settlements, makes settlement payments and documents all activities in the most complex of files across multiple lines
• Evaluates settlement alternatives by reviewing regulatory compliance and fair claims practices; makes decisions on best option
• Builds mastered relationships with both internal and external customers across multiple lines

Compensation

• Field Adjuster Cons I: $26.49 – $40.99/hour
• Field Adjuster Cons II: $28.03 – $43.70/hour
• Field Adjuster Sr. Cons I: $35.82 – $50.24/hour

Compensation is based on experience and qualifications. Total compensation for this role may include additional components, such as incentive pay (for example, commission or bonus), if applicable.
