[Hiring] Expert in Regional Value Chain Upgrade Strategies @UNIDO

Role Description

The position is part of the Rural Development, Agro-Industries and Industrial Parks Unit (IET/AGR/RAP), which aims to improve rural livelihoods by developing and professionalizing agro-industrial production, infrastructure provision, and employment.

• Lead the development of regional upgrading strategies for selected priority value chains within the CEEAC component of the ATCMA Programme – cocoa, wood, and cassava.
• Transform existing analytical work into implementation-focused regional strategies.
• Ensure methodological coherence across all value chains and integrate technical contributions from sector specialists.

Qualifications

• Advanced university degree in industrial development, agricultural economics, economics, engineering, business administration, international development, or a related field.
• At least ten years of international professional experience at increasing levels of responsibility in industrial development, value chain development, agro-industrialization, or regional economic integration.
• Proven experience in developing value chain strategies, industrial upgrading strategies, or sector development strategies in developing countries.
• Experience with regional economic communities, governments, or international development organizations in Africa is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and integrate technical contributions into coherent strategic documents.
• Excellent analytical and writing skills, as well as strong stakeholder consultation and mobilization skills.
• Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken, is required. Practical knowledge of Portuguese is an asset.
