Role Description

The Enterprise Solution Architect (ESA) is the senior technical leader responsible for defining, governing, and evolving the enterprise architecture for a large-scale healthcare supply chain and logistics portfolio. The ESA leads the sustainment and modernization of legacy business applications, inventory systems, procurement systems, financial management integrations, enterprise data capabilities, and shared digital services.

This role establishes the architecture for a centralized integration platform that enables secure, scalable, governed, and near-real-time information exchange across supply chain, logistics, clinical, financial, asset-management, and external partner systems.

The ESA serves as the core technical leader responsible for planning, designing, and governing next-generation autonomous, goal-driven AI systems that support supply-chain modernization, operational decision-making, workflow optimization, enterprise data exchange, and intelligent automation.

This position balances continuity of mission-critical operations with deliberate, phased modernization. The ESA ensures that architecture decisions improve interoperability, data quality, cybersecurity, resiliency, maintainability, delivery velocity, and readiness for future digital capabilities.

This is a critical technical leadership role responsible for enabling a secure, integrated, resilient, and modern healthcare supply-chain ecosystem. The Enterprise Solution Architect protects current operational capabilities while establishing the architecture, governance, integration foundation, data discipline, modernization pathway, and intelligent automation capabilities required for future enterprise transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain, and govern the target-state enterprise architecture for the healthcare supply chain and logistics portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain current-state, future-state, and transition architecture models spanning business, application, data, integration, security, infrastructure, cloud, and operational-support domains.
  • Define enterprise architecture principles, standards, technical guardrails, reference architectures, reusable patterns, and Architecture Decision Records.
  • Lead architecture governance forums, solution-design reviews, technical intake processes, architecture review boards, and executive-level architecture briefings.
  • Ensure architectural decisions align with organizational strategy, technology roadmaps, cybersecurity requirements, business priorities, delivery plans, and operational outcomes.
  • Maintain the enterprise architectural runway, ensuring that near-term product and platform investments advance longer-term modernization objectives.
  • Translate strategic priorities into architecture roadmaps, technical enablers, epics, features, stories, non-functional requirements, and measurable implementation outcomes.
  • Develop architecture artifacts using formal frameworks and methods, including DoDAF, UAF, TOGAF, and comparable enterprise architecture approaches.
  • Architect a secure, scalable, governed centralized integration platform supporting near-real-time, API, event-driven, messaging, batch, and legacy exchanges.
  • Establish reusable integration patterns, APIs, data contracts, interface standards, observability, security, and service-level objectives.
  • Enable reliable interoperability among supply chain, inventory, procurement, logistics, financial, clinical, asset-management, and external systems while reducing point-to-point integrations.
  • Lead phased modernization of legacy applications, interfaces, data pipelines, and infrastructure while maintaining continuity of mission-critical operations.
  • Define modernization strategies including API enablement, refactoring, re-platforming, cloud migration, service decomposition, consolidation, replacement, and retirement.
  • Architect and govern AI-enabled capabilities, including agentic workflows, predictive analytics, intelligent automation, and human-in-the-loop decision support, with appropriate security, governance, traceability, and human oversight.
  • Define enterprise data and master-data architecture supporting authoritative, trusted, interoperable, and reusable supply-chain information.
  • Establish data governance, ownership, quality, metadata, lineage, lifecycle, access, authoritative-source, and master-data standards.
  • Enable consistent and secure information sharing across enterprise and external data sources.
  • Define secure hybrid and cloud-native architecture patterns supporting scalability, resiliency, disaster recovery, observability, and cost optimization.
  • Establish automated DevSecOps practices for CI/CD, testing, security scanning, infrastructure automation, configuration management, monitoring, and continuous compliance.
  • Apply Zero Trust, identity and access management, encryption, secrets/certificate management, API security, vulnerability management, and applicable cybersecurity and privacy requirements.
  • Partner with product, engineering, security, data, operations, and business teams to translate architecture into prioritized epics, enablers, features, non-functional requirements, and release plans.
  • Manage cross-product dependencies and balance feature delivery with modernization, cybersecurity, technical-debt reduction, resiliency, and operational sustainment.
  • Define architecture performance measures covering interoperability, data quality, reliability, delivery, technical debt, and modernization progress.
