Role Description
The Demand Planner is responsible for forecasting and analyzing demand for Lonza Bioscience products. This role plays a critical part in ensuring efficient inventory levels, reducing stockouts, and improving customer happiness while minimizing costs.
- Participates in sales and operations planning (S&OP) processes
- Contributes to special projects and other supply chain and business strategy initiatives
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with internal and external partners (such as supply planning, finance, sales and marketing, and product management)
- Develops and maintains accurate and timely sales forecasts using statistical methods, historical data, market trends, and other relevant information
- Analyzes historical sales data, market trends, competitive activity, and promotional plans to identify demand patterns and forecast future demand accurately
- Utilizes forecasting tools and techniques such as moving averages, exponential smoothing, regression analysis, and other statistical models
- Collaborates with sales, marketing, and other relevant departments to capture market intelligence and incorporate their insights into the forecasting process
- Analyzes demand signals, such as point-of-sale data, customer orders, and market research, to identify demand trends and opportunities
- Prepares reports and presentations summarizing key demand insights and recommendations for management
- Continuously evaluates and improves forecasting accuracy and demand planning processes
- Identifies and implements process improvements to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Keeps abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in demand planning
- Works closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, operations, finance, and procurement, to ensure alignment and effective communication
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Statistics, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze large datasets and identify trends
- Proficiency in statistical software and forecasting tools (e.g., Excel, SAP, Oracle, Tableau)
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with SAP APO, IBP is a plus
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a strong sense of urgency and adaptability
- Competent using MS Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to utilize Business Intelligence systems to extract data and generate reports
- Experience with data analytics tools
- Travel up to 10% is required
