[Hiring] Cybersecurity Advisor @Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool

Role Description

This position provides cybersecurity risk management analysis and advisory support for the Pool’s Members. Working under the direction of senior staff, the individual serves as a technical resource, helping Members gain the tools and knowledge to address cybersecurity risks. Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with cyber risk assessments
• Supporting cybersecurity policy development and best practices
• Staying current on industry standards and emerging threats
• Participating in consulting engagements
• Delivering cybersecurity awareness training
• Presenting at industry events
• Working with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen Members’ cybersecurity posture

Qualifications

• B.A. or B.S. degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field
• 5 years of experience in IT, Cybersecurity, or a related field
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be accepted
• Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Underwriting (AU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Management Liability Insurance Specialist (MLIS), Associate in Reinsurance (ARe), Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), or Cyber Professional Liability Practitioner (CPLP) preferred
• Cybersecurity certification (CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or similar) preferred

Requirements

• Experience working collaboratively within cross-functional teams and leading assigned projects or initiatives
• Familiarity with cyber insurance concepts and risk mitigation strategies
• Knowledge of cybersecurity risk management principles, controls frameworks, and incident response practices
• Ability to analyze technical information and communicate cybersecurity concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and standards related to information security and privacy
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
• Experience in the Property and Casualty insurance industry preferred
• Familiarity with CRM tools such as HubSpot or similar platforms preferred
• Experience using reporting or analytics tools such as Power BI or similar platforms preferred
