Role Description

The Construction Manager is responsible for:

• Coordinating with utilities, municipalities, engineers, developers, and permitting authorities.
• Managing make-ready and right-of-way activities.
• Supporting network design, materials planning, and capital project development.
• Ensuring timely responses to sales-related construction quotes.
• Tracking construction progress and addressing issues with project leadership.
• Processing damage claims and analyzing project data.
• Providing training and guidance to construction leads while managing multiple complex projects in a fast-paced environment.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Supervising and evaluating construction personnel.
• Coordinating construction efforts through in-house and contract labor for new construction and rebuild projects both aerial and underground.
• Representing the interests of Wave in a professional manner with governmental, municipal, and related industry organizations.
• Coordinating and working with utility companies for all construction-related work in the right of way.
• Coordinating with engineers and developers in designing the plant.
• Monitoring contractor performance and ensuring adherence to terms and conditions of agreements.
• Performing site inspections for quality control and safety.
• Coordinating permitting and make-ready processes.
• Ensuring staff is responding to quotes for the residential and small business sales teams to meet tight deadlines.
• Communicating with Project Manager or designated supervisor regarding concerns about construction progress.
• Reviewing and processing damage claims and working closely with staff in developing capital projects and purchase requests for the construction team.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 5 years Cable Television or Telecommunications technical experience.
• 7-10 years of experience in working and/or supervising a cable TV/telecommunications construction department.
• Vision ability; close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Knowledge of National Electrical Codes and G.O.95 and 128.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner.
• Ability to supervise and motivate others.
• Ability to use personal computer and software applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, etc.).
• Ability to manage and complete multiple projects of varying sizes, complexity, budget value, and duration.
• Advanced understanding of proper safety construction practices.
• Advanced understanding of fiber route planning and engineering for building entry and network expansion projects.
• Advanced understanding of the permitting process for railroad, DOT, cities, counties, and pole owners.
• Advanced understanding of fiber splicing and installation practices.
• Advanced understanding of network topology.
• Advanced knowledge of fiber optic principles and methodology.
• Advanced understanding of GIS.
• Ability to build and establish effective relationships with municipalities, government agencies, property management, vendors, etc.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills required.
• Ability to track and analyze data against project forecasts.
• Strong critical-thinking, attention to detail, and time management skills are required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment without supervision.
• Ability to provide training and support for Construction Lead I-II.
• Ability to live within 30 miles, or a maximum of 1-hour commute during regular commuting hours from the assigned territory.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance with a satisfactory driving record.
• Must have the ability to operate standard office equipment, including personal computer, telephone, copier, facsimile machine, and calculator.
