Role Description

Adaptive is seeking a thoughtful computational biologist who is enthusiastic about statistics, genetics, and improving human health. Weโ€™re looking for someone who excels at data analysis, statistical modeling, and communicating results to diverse audiences. You will join a highly collaborative Computational Biology group that conducts analyses to support key decisions within the company and for our clients. Your work will focus on supporting our clinical operations laboratory; verification and validation of process changes, trending analysis, problem finding and troubleshooting, and data driven risk analysis. Outstanding candidates will have demonstrated the ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. Adaptive strongly values professional development, and we are committed to helping team members grow in their careers.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with wet lab scientists to design experiments and analyze both historical and experimental data.
  • Perform quick and thorough analyses of DNA sequencing data to understand outliers, perform QC, make descriptive figures, and address key statistical questions.
  • Lead the statistical analysis design process supporting IVD-level product and QC method development studies while adhering to appropriate regulatory guidance, including CLSI and Design Control.
  • Independently write and contribute to study protocols, data analysis, and final reports in working with other scientists in the group.
  • Facilitate consensus approval for development study protocols, coordinating input from various technical stakeholders to ensure statistical plans meet business needs and CLIA/CAP, ISO and FDA requirements.
  • Utilize internal processes and tools that support efficient document writing and life-cycle maintenance.
  • Contribute to analysis of NGS immunosequencing data, developing innovative methods for statistical analyses for big complex data generated through the experiments.
  • Present results to diverse audiences, including a variety of cross-functional senior leadership, clinicians, and executives.
  • Be a problem solver: communicate well, ask questions, proactively eliminate bottlenecks, and be the person people go to when they want a job done right.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Experience recognizing anomalous and inconsistent data points.
  • Basic knowledge in at least one scripting language, such as Python or R.
  • Ability to consider outcome when designing analysis and assimilate findings with related dependencies.
  • Communicate project and status updates independently.
  • Experience delivering technical material at department meetings.
  • Strong knowledge in scripting language, such as Python or R.
  • Proficiency in at least one common coding language (R, Python, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in presenting technical material to diverse audiences.
