[Hiring] Communications & Learning Content Intern @FHI 360

Role Description

FHI 360 has an exciting internship opportunity for a student interested in growing their skills within the education and workforce development sector. Under close supervision, an Intern will perform entry level professional duties which will provide the opportunity for professional training in various functional areas throughout the organization. This internship will support Next Engineers, a global college-and-career readiness initiative funded by the GE Aerospace Foundation.

Under IWL’s supervision, the Intern will assist in project communications and learning content development for Next Engineers. This is a paid internship with a flexible schedule based on project needs.

• Practical experience with a large, global non-profit organization
• Shadowing, mentoring, and training opportunities with successful communications, technical, and program management professionals
• Training and engagement opportunities related to youth-centered resource development, resource maintenance, workforce development, and college & career readiness
• Experience working with an interdisciplinary team addressing global education and workforce challenges

Anticipated Project(s) and Assignment Details

• Develop social media content, applying appropriate branding
• Update learning resources for projects, including new branding templates and revising content
• Assist in writing and reviewing project content, including News/blog entries
• Assist in developing new learning content for Next Engineers activities
• Copyedit learning content, presentation slides, collateral materials, etc.
• Support any global or live events as needed
• Participate in meetings with IWL and Next Engineers teams to learn about learning and workforce development strategies and goals
• Assist with project-related administrative tasks as needed
• Assist with website management as needed
• Assist with other IWL communication tasks such as writing, copyediting, or design as needed

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in English, Communications, STEM Education, Journalism, Curriculum Development, Design, Instructional Design, or related field one year of graduation date
• Demonstrated interest in related subject area through studies and/or work experience
• Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
• Strong writing and copyediting skills
• Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner
• Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English
• Detail-oriented
• Must be able to work independently in a virtual environment; strong time-management skills
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, PDF programs such as Adobe Acrobat or Foxit, and Canva
• Spanish, Polish, or Kannada language skills are a plus
• Experience with WordPress and/or Drupal a plus

• Remote office environment
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; ability to lift 5 lbs.

Compensation

The expected U.S.-based hourly pay range for this internship is $18 - $30 USD Annual. Compensation is only one component of the internship experience. Eligibility for benefits and paid time off, if applicable, is determined based on internship duration, scheduled hours, and FHI 360 policy.
