Role Description

Join a Sydney-based civil contracting business delivering mainly government projects, working fully remotely from the Philippines. This is a long-term role with steady work and a clear path to grow as the business does.

The Civil Estimator owns the estimating process from tender invitation through to submission for government and council civil projects, covering excavation, earthworks, waste disposal and associated civil works. Day to day, you will:

• Review drawings and specifications
• Prepare quantity take-offs
• Price labor, plant, materials and disposal costs
• Gather and level supplier and subcontractor quotes
• Prepare compliant tender submissions and schedules of rates
• Price variations once projects are awarded
• Keep rates, cost data and the tender register up to date
• Work closely with the Sydney-based team to confirm scope, assumptions and site conditions

There is an opportunity to take on a bigger role in the estimating function as the business grows.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating experience with an Australian civil contractor, ideally on government or council projects
• Strong understanding of civil works including excavation, earthworks, and waste classification and disposal costs
• Confident reading and interpreting civil drawings, specifications and bills of quantities
• Familiarity with Australian government and council tendering processes and documentation
• Proficiency with estimating and take-off software (e.g. Bluebeam, CostX or similar) and strong Excel skills
• Highly detail focused, with a methodical approach to checking quantities and pricing
• Strong organization, able to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines at once
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Demonstrated employment stability, with a preference for candidates who have stayed with previous employers for around two years or more
• A real interest in building a long-term career with the business and growing alongside the team
